INSIDE LUCY BOYLE - SESSION VOCALIST
Biography
Hi! My name is Lucy Boyle, originally from Dundee but now living in Glasgow. I have always dreamed of doing something as a career in the music industry. Throughout the years growing up, I’ve always loved to sing, even though I wasn’t good at it and didn’t know how to, I would believe that I did and hoped to become a successful artist in the future.

I got a lot of inspiration from my dad. He is as passionate about music as I am, currently in a band and booking as many gigs as one possibly can. He was the one who got me to pick up the guitar and start learning, the first song he taught me being ‘Smoke on the Water’. From then on, I loved spending hours trying to learn my favorite songs and was too stubborn to not be content until I could play through the whole thing with no mistakes.

The music I like is a big range of different genres and styles. One thing for sure is that I prefer to listen to old music rather than the modern music today, I’d let a few artists slide though. If I was to perform or write in a genre though, I’d pick alternative rock as Its always fun to belt songs every once and a while, though folk very much suits my voice. I like to show a lot of emotion whilst singing so songs that tell stories work really well for me when wanting to engage with audiences.

When It came to doing music in education, I was too shy to pick voice as one of my instruments so instead, I picked guitar along with the keyboard. When it was class time for rehearsing, I longed to be where the singers were. Thankfully, this changed when I met new friends at my new school, they pushed and encouraged me to pick vocals with them and I was more than happy to finally do so as I was comfortable singing with them.

I didn’t truly feel confident in my singing until I started my HNC course and got proper lessons to help me with opening up more, singing louder and having that confidence to believe you can do it as young Lucy did. Throughout the course, I received tons of knowledge on the best ways to warm up, how to use the right muscles to improve my range and even learning how to be able to sing harmonies with anyone which before, I never thought I’d be able to do. I’ve made massive progress with my singing and couldn’t be happier to continue my work into the music industry, I’m now always wanting to be on stage.

Being a session musician was a great opportunity to take, I’ve been able to successfully help those in need of vocals and harmonies for their original songs and I’ve also been told I’m a pleasure to work with. It also gives me a chance to meet all different kinds of people and let me have experience working in different genres and styles. I will definitely continue being a session vocalist!
